Château Coutet is one of the oldest wineries in the Sauternes appellation of Bordeaux. The history of the winery as a wine estate began in 1643. In 1643, Charles Le Guerin became the owner of the estate, and under his management the estate became one of the first vineyards in the Sauternes appellation. The original meaning of Coutet is "knife", and it is characterized by its strong and sharpness. President of the United States and wine connoisseur Thomas Jefferson has commented that Coutet's liqueurs are the best in Barsac.

Chateau Coutet 2014, Still aging in oak, the wine is of a pale color. The nose is full of lovely aromatic notes of grapefruit, lychee, mango and pineapple. In addition, flavors of lime, toasted almond, and acacia flower can be detected. The palate is fresh and mineral but an incredible density to the wine imparts a long finish. The vintage is already unusual for its power and freshness.
