The origins of the Château Filhot date back to 1709, when Romain de Filhot founded the Château Filhot, on a vineyard that had already existed since the first half of the 17th century. In the wake of the French Revolution, the heirs of the Filhot family, the Lur-Saluces, took over the château and renovated the property. The Château Filhot estate encompasses 320 contiguous hectares. Classification’ according to the 1855 official classification suggested to Napoleon III by the Negociants and the Chamber of Commerce of Bordeaux. From then on the wine Chateau FILHOT was universally diffused under the name of Chateau Sauternes until the end of the 19th century. It acquired its own name in 1901. Since 1974, Count Henri de Vaucelles managed the Château Filhot with his son Gabriel. Without a doubt one of the most beautiful properties in the Sauternais region, the Château Filhot is home to an exceptionally high quality vineyard.

===============

The nose is fruity, fine, concentrated, aromatic and intense. It reveals notes of pear in syrup, flowers and slight notes of candied lemon associated with a hint of pineapple as well as a subtle hint of white flowers and a subtle toasted hint/vanilla. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers a slight tension, a very beautiful acid frame (on citrus), suavity, a nice definition as well as straightness. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of juicy ripe lemon and juicy ripe clementine associated with slight notes of pineapple in syrup, pear in syrup, a discreet hint of quenette, sweet spices as well as an imperceptible hint of toffee and Bourbon vanilla. Good length and beautiful persistence.
