Chateau Giscours has a total area of 300 hectares, of which 94 hectares are vineyards located in the Margaux region. 25% of the vines are more than 40 years old. Vineyard soil is gravel alluvial soil, limestone and clay. The soil has good drainage performance, which is very conducive to the growth of vines and the ripening of fruits. The traditional brewing process is used to add flavor to the wine. Chateau Giscours is fermented in stainless steel vats with controlled temperature for 18-28 days according to the year, and the fermentation temperature is 26-28℃. After that, it is aged in oak barrels for 15-18 months, and the oak barrels are renewed at a rate of 50 per year. -80%, depending on the year, then use egg white for clarification. La Sirene de Giscours which is the second label, uses only 50% new oak barrels, and the other brewing process is basically the same as the first label. The winery’s wines are known for their lightness and gentleness, delicate and feminine taste; deep and strong color, complex aroma, with smoky and woody aromas, very elegant, tannins are smooth and soft, slowly blending in the mouth feeling wonderful.
Chateau Giscours 2014 is a very expressive, scrumptious Margaux Troisième Cru Classé on an aromatic palette rich of black fruits (smashed blackberry, blackcurrant) and red berry (wild raspberry) on some balsamic fragrances. The palate carries a delicate tannic structure, both strong (sap with tight and fine grain) and pleasant on the finish. The well-extracted tannins build a solid structure in this classic yet strong wine. The balanced whole foreshadows a good ageing potential.
