Château Pape Clément is a famous winery located in the Bordeaux region of France and is considered to be one of the oldest wineries in the Graves region. It is world-famous for producing excellent red and white wines.

The history of Château Pape Clément dates back to the 13th century. It was founded in 1305 by French Pope Pape Clément V of the Benedictine Abbey. Pope Clément V planted grape vines in his domain and began to make wine, so The winery is named after him. This makes Château Pape Clément one of the first wineries in France, with the iconic triple crown emblazoned on the château’s logo.

Château Pape Clément is renowned for producing elegant red wines with the potential to age. These wines often have characteristics of black fruit, baking spices and smoke, with tightly structured and balanced tannins. In addition, the winery also produces high-quality white wines with fresh fruit flavors, rich taste and good acidity.

=======================================

Chateau Pape Clement Blanc 2018 is s a blend of 57% Sauvignon Blanc, 39% Semillon and 4% Muscadelle. It was aged for around 14 months in 55% new and 45% second-fill French oak barrels. It races out of the gate with flamboyant scents of pineapple upside-down cake, lemon meringue pie and honey-drizzled peaches, plus suggestions of orange blossoms and yuzu peel. The medium to full-bodied palate has a decadent touch of oiliness to the texture with loads of spicy sparks to the tropical fruit layers, finishing long with a refreshing burst of zestiness. It’s a richer expression, for sure, but it really works and it is seriously scrumptious. - Robert Parker
