Demoiselle de Sociando is the second wine from Château Sociando Mallet. The wines is vinified in stainless steel vats, and a quarter of maturation takes place in new barrels for 11 months; the remainder is in stainless steel before 7 months' vatting for homogenisation. Demoiselle de Sociando has a remarkably dark colour, and presents powerful aromas of raspberries and toast. Concentrated and full-bodied in its youth, this wine gains richness and smoothness with age.
Tasting
La Demoiselle de Sociando-Mallet offers a fresh and fruity wine, easy and pleasant to drink from a young age.
History
The history of the Château Sociando Mallet dates back to the discovery of a document from March 1633 referring to noble lands in the municipality of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, belonging to a family of Basque origin called Sossiondo. There is also a document of 1750, relating to the vines of the Demoiselle Anne de Sossiondo. Over the years, “Sociondo” (or “Sossiondo”) has become “Sociando” as a result of a spelling error.
In 1831, following the wedding of the owner with a certain Achille Mallet, the estate is named Sociando-Mallet according to the custom of adding the name of the owner to that of his Castle. La Demoiselle de Sociando Mallet is the second wine of the domain.
