Le Dome is a winery located in Saint-Émilion in Bordeaux, known for producing high-quality, limited-production wines from the region's unique terroir. The winery was founded in 1996 by British vintners Jonathan Maltus, Neil Whyte and Cyril Beziat, with Gilles Pauquet as consultant winemaker. This unique vineyard occupies less than three hectares, adjacent to Chateau Angélus. It takes its name from the hill on which it stands, known as "Le Dome" because of its shape. Le Dome's vineyards are planted with a variety of grape varieties, including Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.
Le Dome 2014 received high marks from critics, with many praising its richness, complexity and length on the palate, as well as its excellent aging potential. Made from carefully selected Merlot with hints of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon and aged in French oak barrels, the wine is medium-bodied with aromas of dark fruit, spice and earth. The wine is well structured with firm tannins and good acidity, with the potential to age for 10-15 years or more. It has received high marks from wine critics, with many praising its rich, complex flavors and long finish. Due to its small production and high quality, with an average of only 12,000 - 18,000 bottles of red wine produced each year, Le Dome has become a sought-after wine for Bordeaux wine collectors and aficionados, and it will continue to develop and evolve over time with proper cellaring.
